This term, our Year 7, 8, and 9 Distance Education Science students have been exploring the incredible order and design found within God’s creation through the study of chemistry and physics. As students investigate matter, energy, and the laws that govern the natural world, they are developing scientific understanding while recognising the consistency and creativity of our Creator.
Our Year 7 students have been introduced to chemistry by exploring the properties of matter, the particle theory, and the differences between physical and chemical changes. They are also investigating how mixtures can be separated using a variety of techniques while developing their practical inquiry skills.
Year 8 students have continued their chemistry studies by examining elements, compounds, and the organisation of the periodic table. Through their learning, they are developing an understanding of the building blocks of matter and the changes substances undergo.
In Year 9 Science, students have been investigating energy and waves. They are exploring how energy is transferred and transformed, while learning about the behaviour of mechanical and electromagnetic waves through a range of practical investigations.
Throughout each year level, students are encouraged to view their learning through a Christian worldview. As they discover the laws and patterns that govern our universe, students are reminded that creation reflects God’s wisdom, faithfulness, and purposeful design. Science allows us to better understand the world God has made and inspires us to be thoughtful stewards of His creation.
As we continue to explore the wonders of science, we are reminded of the words in Colossians 1:16–17: “For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
