We are pleased to share a free one‑day Autism Workshop for parents and carers, hosted by Positive Partnerships. This not‑for‑profit, federally funded initiative supports families and educators of school‑aged autistic and neurodivergent children, with a strong focus on working together to support positive outcomes.
This workshop is suitable for parents, grandparents, and carers. A formal diagnosis is not required, and interpreters can be provided on request. Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.
The workshop supports families to learn more about autism and neurodiversity‑affirming approaches, while highlighting the importance of positive partnerships between home and school. When families and educators work collaboratively, children benefit from greater consistency, understanding, and support across both environments.
As a College, we recognise the importance of equipping families with opportunities, resources and support that strengthen student wellbeing and learning both at home and within educational settings.
Workshops like this provide parents and carers with practical, evidence‑informed strategies they can use at home and when working alongside schools. Families often report feeling more confident and informed after attending, particularly when navigating communication, planning, and advocacy for their child. The session also offers a valuable opportunity to connect with other parents and carers, share experiences, and gain reassurance from others who understand the journey.
At Groves Distance Education, we deeply value working in partnership with families supporting students with additional needs. Our teachers and Inclusion staff recognise the importance of open and honest communication in helping us better understand each student’s strengths, challenges and support needs so that, together, we can continue working towards positive educational and wellbeing outcomes. Families are always encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher or the Inclusion team if they have questions, concerns or would like further support.
Attached is a flyer containing full details and registration information. Families can also register directly via the Positive Partnerships website at www.positivepartnerships.com.au.
