How can we help you?
Home Tutors are responsible for supervision of students in Prep to Year 9 and managing test conditions for tests and exams. Senior Phase students (Year 10 to 12) require an approved supervisor that meets the QCAA guidelines. These guidelines are provided to families ahead of scheduled Assessment Blocks to enable supervision arrangements. Alternatively local families can attend on site in Senior Phase if preferred.
Home tutors are expected to review, grade, and provide regular feedback on their students’ daily learning activates, while teachers are responsible for grading and providing feedback on all assigned assessment tasks. The prompt, direct feedback from home tutors enables learning progress. Teacher grading informs the report card subject results.
All work samples and assessments are required to be uploaded to our online platform, Learner Link in the correct format that is requested by the teacher. Common formats include – .pdf, .jpeg, or video files for presentation items.
Frequency of assessments will vary between phases and can be delivered through a number of methods including online quizzes, written assessments or tests and exams. At the commencement of each term, families will be given access to a Term Overview for each subject that allows them to view assessment due dates. Teachers will set deadlines for these assessments that must be adhered to. It is the role of the home tutor to ensure work is submitted in a timely manner.
Yes, teachers write report cards twice a year (once per semester). These reports are based on the student evidence collected over the semester. Teachers make judgements regarding student performance against the standards from the curriculum, authorities (ACARA and QCAA).
Students working beyond the year level expectations are provided with opportunities to develop higher order thinking skills across most of our courses. This includes optional participation in extension activities and tasks. Home tutors are also welcome to plan linked extension opportunities as they wish.
