Brief History

Since 1999 Groves has been working with families to make a values based, Christian education available to all who desire it. Christian schooling considers the whole child. Our education fosters the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, ethical, aesthetic and emotional development of the children and young people in our College. We remain true to our purpose. Groves Christian College was named in honour of Anthony Norris Groves (1795-1853). He is remembered for his faithful approach to mission work and empowerment of the local people, first in Baghdad and then later in southern India.

Strengthened through our connections.

Groves is a well-established Christian College that is strengthened through its connections. We remain fresh, focused, connected and accountable through memberships, partnerships and friendships.

Groves is the founding member school of Christian Community Ministries. The Board of Directors of Christian Community Ministries serves as the governing body, not only of Groves Christian College, but a number of similar schools across three states serving over 4000 students.

We are a non-state school independent school. Independent schools have their own charter approved by and partially funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments. Since our commencement we have been a member of Independent Schools Queensland.

Groves is an active member in a number of sporting organisations that enable our students to compete and advance to the highest levels of school based competition.

Groves celebrates partnerships that empowers student learning. At the heart of our ministry is our core educational partners, our families, the first and most important educators of the students.

Groves has a number of strategic partnerships to maximise student learning opportunities. These include those with training colleges, universities, employment agencies, and special needs specialist organisations.

We maintain friendly relationships with a network of schools. From local neighbouring schools to those located around the world through our international friendship agreements.

We enjoy building friendship connections with a range of Christian Churches, ministries, sporting and cultural organisations, and all levels of government.
