At Groves, we enjoy collaborating with parents and caregivers to create opportunities for students to feel cared for, valued, respected, and understood. This collective approach allows students to flourish and grow. Positive mental well-being supports lifelong learning and is essential for personal growth and development.

Well-being at Groves encompasses four tiers of support and education:

  1. Promoting psychosocial competency across the college (college-wide approach)
  2. Embedding mental health education into the health curriculum and year-level discussions
  3. Providing group work for students needing additional support and engagement
  4. Offering individualized support when necessary.

Over the past three years, more than 60 teachers have trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to support students facing various challenges. The Well-being Team collaborates with our teachers and college leaders to assist students who require extra help for a multitude of reasons. Our goal is for all students to feel known and cared for. In Term 1, Intermediate students were invited to complete a “Student Well-being Check-in,” where they could express their feelings about returning to school. It was wonderful to see so many students excited to be back and eager to learn and engage.

In 2025, we will introduce a new program called “Real Friends,” designed to enhance the social well-being of students in Years 4-8. This initiative will help students build healthy relationships and strong connections both in real life and online, complementing the existing social and emotional groups provided for our Foundation students.

We look forward to a successful year as we continue to collaborate in engaging the hearts and minds of those entrusted to our care.
