With the increase of technology, we have unfortunately seen a decrease in time children spend outside before and after school. When playing outdoors students are given opportunities to take risks, explore and create their own adventures. Looking back at my childhood some of my fondest memories are playing outside after school with the other kids in the neighbourhood, riding our bikes up the road, making mud pies, or climbing the trees in the backyard. The opportunities for outdoor play are endless but some simple ideas are playing tag, kicking a soccer ball, setting up a basketball hoop, building a fort, playing jump rope. If you are interested in more play ideas for you child, please speak to the classroom teacher.
