Our current Year 9 and Year 10 students are invited to attend our upcoming Subject Selection evenings this month, to learn more about the courses on offer in Senior School and to develop their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plans. Our Senior Phase staff have also developed a helpful five episode series on transitioning into Senior Phase (Find here).

At Groves, we want to equip and prepare students for a purpose driven life beyond school by helping them to develop the necessary skills and tools. One aspect of this is helping students to strive for their personal best. We are reminded through scripture of the importance of doing our best which includes working through challenges and developing a growth mindset.

When we are approached with a challenge, whether it be a new skill or topic, there are various responses we can have. Some people will develop self-doubt that leads them to believe they cannot improve, while others embrace the challenge and persist by putting in time and effort. Often motivation can drive this success, whether it is led by outside influences (extrinsic) or internal influences (intrinsic).

Perhaps now would be a great time to sit down and help your student establish clear goals for the remainder of the year. Families are also welcome to touch base with their Home Class teachers, to get feedback and advice on motivating and engaging their students.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men   Colossians 3:23
