It will be an exciting time for our Year 3 students this term. We have started math groups this week and attended our first Chapel. The message for students this term is to discover their identity in Christ by studying God’s word through the Bible.

In Literacy we will concentrate on newspaper articles and procedure writing. The students create a report and build on their understanding relating to adverbs, pronouns and higher tier words. They incorporate facts including who, what, when, where, why and how. We continue to foster a reading engrossed classroom with the assistance of the Daily Five program. Students will expand their ability to answer higher order thinking comprehensive questions and develop their explanations when retelling a story.

Numeracy will continue to focus on regrouping with addition and subtraction. Students will begin to divide by reciting their time tables and use problem solving skills to decipher multi step equations.

In Science, our unit continues on from last term as we look further into solids, liquids and gases. They will conduct experiments to test the variables of heat. Their attention in HaSS will be on the local area and our country. Our students will look further into the Indigenous culture and Australia.

You can further support your children by ensuring they complete their weekly homework tasks. This includes an area for each subject each week along with their online activities (Mathletics and Studyladder). Please continue to read with your child, (even if they are unable to bring home a reader) read a book from home and document in their home reading booklets.

As our Year 3 family continues to grow, we would like to welcome Mr Frost, Elouise and Aaliyah. This term will be memorable and engaging which we can’t wait to share with your children.
