Welcome back to Term 3! We have an exciting term ahead. In Term 3, students in Year 7 are engaging in Project-Based Learning (PBL) across their four core subjects.
Project-based learning is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges and acquire a deeper knowledge. PBL uses 21st Century skills such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration. The PBL structure helps to build intrinsic motivation and student engagement.
The focus for the PBL this term will be to explore countries around the world in comparison to Australia. Students will investigate weather patterns, energy generation, and systems of government in Mathematics, Science, and Humanities and Social Studies, and use their work to create a brochure detailing the different aspects of their chosen country. In English, they will use those resources again to write a comparative text between their chosen country and Australia.
The climax of the PBL is the Groves World Expo, which will be held in Week 10. More details and an invitation for parents to attend will be available as the event gets closer. We look forward to sharing what students have learnt at the World Expo in Week 10 with you.
