For nearly a decade we have had Karen Becker serve with us in the Instrumental Program teaching piano. Karen has been a faithful, dedicated and attentive tutor who has enjoyed seeing her students present at public performances and complete exams to extend their musical skills. Unfortunately, Karen will be finishing her work here at Groves. While we are sad to see Karen go, we are excited for the next phase God has for her in reaching others through social work.
We are very blessed to have Adam Picking join the Instrumental Program next term. Adam will be working with Karen to transition her current students and will have openings for additional students. Adam will be offering guitar, piano, vocals and bass guitar tuition.
We welcome Adam and are grateful for the skills he brings to share with the Groves community.
“Teaching is my greatest passion, and I love the opportunity to bring music into young people’s lives. Over the past decade, I have taught students of all ages, and I find great joy in helping students to reach their musical goals. I believe that every student has a unique learning style which I tailor my lessons to, so that together we can aim for the student’s greatest potential.
My musical background includes both in and out of church activities. I love playing music of many genres and moods. At church, I lead the worship team by focusing on skill development. Alongside this, my wife and I are professional musicians who perform as a duo. Online, on my YouTube channel, Ambient Plus, I create soundscapes.
One of my passions is to research the impact and effect music has on the brain. Out of this, I have written music to soothe cancer patients going through treatments, and children and adults who struggle to sleep. It would be a joy and honour to journey with you and your child on their musical pathway, and I am excited to be a part of the Groves Instrumental Program.” Adam Picking.
We welcome Adam and look forward to hearing of Karen’s success in her new endeavour.
