Year 9 have had an exceptional start to the term. It’s hard to believe we are in Week 4 of Term 2 already!! There is a buzz of learning taking place in our core classes. Our students have transitioned well with the online learning platform. We have been encouraged by the strong presence of students eagerly awaiting to learn and stay connected with one another and their teachers. It is apparent God is in control and has given each of us peace that transcends all understanding. Hearing the students laughter and watching them engaged in classroom discussions and out and about on the dome, working hard at social distancing has been uplifting and a great inspiration to us all.

In our English classes we are excited to have our walls covered with the work our students have produced, attention-getters and PEEL paragraphs pertaining to life as a teenager in high school through joyful and, in some cases, traumatic experiences through their ‘Say no to bullying’ posters. This has showcased the importance of having our students make a huge impact in the lives of others just by choosing to speak words of affirmation and encouragement that will lift one another up. This term the students have been preparing for persuasive speeches about topics they are passionate about. It has been pleasing to see the students engaged in the area of persuasive language techniques and watching them incorporate it into their work. We look forward to hearing their speeches and watching them in action.

Our Year 9 students are taking up the challenge of reading, reading, reading. Please encourage them to make the most of our Accelerated Reader program and to complete the quizzes after completing a book. Our students working from home have access to MyOn where they can read books online.

Thank you for all that you do in partnering with us at Groves. We have so much to celebrate. The precious gift of every breath we take, and living every moment of every day counting God’s blessings upon our lives.

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
