Many of the senior students are interested in Health and Medical careers. This is an exciting career pathway as there is always high demand for qualified and capable health workers. On Thursday, May 21, interested students attended a Beacon Live event which was a webinar involving expert industry panelists who shared their stories, top tips for success and answered questions from the students. It was a really encouraging and motivating session. Please read Annie’s reflection on the Beacon event below. Annie is one of our driven and passionate Year 12 students, who has recently completed her Certificate III in Individual Support (AIN) traineeship at Metro South Health, Logan Hospital and commenced her health journey undertaking work experience at the PA Hospital. Congratulations Annie, we are very proud of you!

On Thursday 21st of May, I attended a Beacon webinar on the topic of Health and Medical careers. I was able to gain an insight into the world of health as I listened to a few different practitioners talk on what they did to get where they are as well as a day in the life of their work place. It was really beneficial to myself and the other attendees as we were able to ask questions and interact with each panelist, gathering an understanding of the variety of pathways available and the type of work ethic needed to acquire the skills and knowledge to succeed in the health industry.
