Across a number of our subjects so far this term, Year 5 have been making use of our research skills. In our recent literacy assessment, students have been researching about their persuasive writing topic. In HASS, classes have been watching BTN (Behind the News) videos about democracy, voting and referendums in Australia. As they’ve watched, students have taken notes and are now making use of these note-taking skills to plan and design an infographic/poster about democracy. Building their research skills encourages our students to think critically about the information they have gathered, to question and show their curiosity about a topic.
