You may have seen the signs go up this week around our Campus 1 and on adjoining land on Laughlin Street inviting comment on a proposed Ministerial Infrastructure Designation for the Campus.  This is an exciting milestone for the College as we seek to secure planning approval for the expansion of the Campus 1 site and for new school facilities that will serve our current and future students.

The signs show a proposed Master Plan which includes the following exciting facilities:

  • New car park, car drop zone and bus zone with access from Walsh Place and Laughlin Street, which will significantly reduce traffic congestion on Laughlin Street in the peak morning and afternoon periods;
  • Removal of internal car parking and demountable buildings for a Great Court open space area that will improve outdoor amenity within the heart of the Campus, providing a beautiful space for learning and connection; and
  • New four-storey Secondary Learning Centre including Science Laboratories, Lecture Theatre, Dance Studio and general classrooms, that will provide further state-of-the-art specialist facilities for our Secondary students.

The works are proposed in three stages with construction set to commence on the Secondary Learning Centre in the second half of this year.

The application is at consultation stage through to 18 February and the application can be viewed and submissions made at https://planning.dsdmip.qld.gov.au/id-consultations.  This proposal has been made to the Queensland State Government as MID-1119-0385 under the Planning Act 2016.  We encourage your support of our proposal.
