It’s been a whirlwind Semester for the Secondary Choir, but we’ve enjoyed every moment of it! Our wonderfully talented students have been working very hard in preparing for a number of performances. They have already come a long way in the short time I have been at Groves, as proven by their outstanding performances at our events this term.
Our fearless choir performed in front of a huge crowd at the Light of the World Festival, held at Mabel Park High School, on the afternoon of Thursday 31 October. This was a community event that has been running in Logan for nearly 10 years. Our students performed two well-rehearsed songs for the masses: Make me a channel of Your peace, and Titanium. The audience was especially impressed by the choir’s energy during “Titanium”!
The month of November has been extremely busy, with performances at our Senior Phase and Middle Phase awards nights, as well as our Year 12 graduation, where a special send-off song was prepared. The Year 12’s couldn’t resist cheering and dancing to song the choir performed, Ain’t No Stopping us Now. Our final performance for the year is set for tonight, Thursday 28 November, at the Christmas Instrumental showcase. All are welcome to attend at 5:30pm at the MPC. Our choir will perform a modern classical piece, a beautifully written song, entitled, There is Faint Music.
I want to sincerely thank all the students for their dedication and commitment to the One Voice Secondary choir. Thanks also goes to all the parents for their support in making 2019 a great year. Our doors are always open for new choir members to join us and we look forward to an even bigger year in 2020!
