On Thursday, October 31, Day School Intermediate Phase student leaders were invited to join their peers in Distance Education at Camp Drewe in Lennox Head, New South Wales for a two day camp. After a group bus trip across the border, students participated in their first activity of the day – canoeing. In the evening, CYC leaders set up a camp fire and a game of spotlight.
Day Two of camp started out with some light showers, but a beautiful day soon unfolded. After a morning beach walk and breakfast, we started our first activity for the day – body boarding. We had a pod of dolphins watching us from beyond the surf as we learned about safety awareness and body boarding skills from the CYC instructors. Everyone was impressed when Mrs Tiller got on a board to show everyone how it is done. We finished with an afternoon session of stand-up paddle boarding before having a quick bite to eat for lunch, we were back on the bus to Groves.
Thank you to the families of our DE and Day School students, who supported their participation in this wonderful camp. The students are all commended on their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm for teamwork and participation. It was a brilliant time of fellowship, and many special memories made.
