On Monday, October 28, Intermediate students attended our weekly Chapel in the MPC. Continuing with our term approach of using a children’s movie to see values in action, Miss Grigg shared a message that included the movie Bolt. The key scripture that students were taught is Joshua 1:9; “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, don’t ever be afraid or discouraged. For I am the Lord your God and will be with you wherever you go.”

In our Week 4 Assembly, we had a special event where the new adventure playground was officially opened with a ribbon ceremony. Our Head of College Mr Allan Weir was present to cut the ribbon with the Primary captains and Mrs Vanessa Osborne led a prayer to thank God for the blessings we share and have stewardship over at Groves. All students will have allocated days to enjoy this special new structure, and it has already been a very popular option during playtime this week! As always, our students were honoured for their effort and application to learning in the previous week with their ‘Encouragement’ and ‘Student of the Week’ certificates. The ‘Class of the Week’ award went to 3J for their consistent hard work whilst their regular teacher Mr Ramsay has been away. The ‘Homework Hero’ award went to Izabella from 4B. Congratulations also to La Fronz from 3T, Peyton from 4G, Allie from 5B, and Samuel from 6M for winning the ‘Physical Education Student of the Week’ award.

Just a reminder to families that Chapel will be occurring for Intermediate Phase students as normal on Monday, November 4, at the MPC on campus 1. Our Year 6 students will remain on campus 1 for their Year 6/7 Transition morning returning to campus 2 at 11:30. In what will be a busy week for Intermediate Phase, students will start at campus 1, outside the MPC again on Wednesday morning to begin rehearsals for Awards Night, returning to campus 2 at 10:30am. Also occurring on Friday, November 8, will be the Swimming Carnival where students will begin their day on campus 2 and be bused to the pool. We are looking forward to an exciting Week 5!
