On Friday of Week 8, Foundation students, staff and parents gathered in the MPC for Chapel. Some students received a certificate for memorising their verse from 2 previous weeks. A short video recap was displayed to help students remember how David has spared King Saul’s life in the cave, showing kindness and compassion towards him. Through some photo slides, Foundation students learned about David’s forgiving heart as he had an opportunity to harm Saul again while he was asleep in the camp. However, David refused to hurt God’s anointed one and spared his life for the second time. Instead he took Saul’s spear and jug of water which was close to his head. Students were reminded about the importance of forgiving each other through the verse in Mathew 6:14 – “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”.
Our Teacher Aides from Foundation Phase were honoured with gifts to show how much they are appreciated for Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. Students from Year 2, Carolina and Braxton, read a beautiful poem, ‘Because of You’ and prayed a special prayer of blessing over all Teacher Aides. The Groovy Grovers team led everyone in worship and concluded Chapel.
Parents, please note that the Foundation Phase Chapel for Week 9 will be held in the Undercover area since our usual venue in the MPC will be used for exam purposes.
On Monday of Week 9, for the weekly Assembly, students’ efforts were celebrated through certificates of achievement. The ‘Class of the Week’ was awarded to 1V, the ‘Servant Leader’ award was presented to Damien from 1O and the Mathletics trophy went to Prep T for their outstanding participation in online interactive numeracy activities. Students from Prep were very excited to participate in their Dance incursion this week and showcase their talents in Bush Dance style to their parents and peers. Since the weather is still cool and windy in the mornings, Foundation students were reminded to wear their jackets and jumpers daily. Students from 2B concluded our Assembly with prayer, asking God to bless and protect Year 5 students on Camp.
