Groves sent out 5 teams across two days to the annual CSSAQ Soccer Carnival at Hubner Park, Park Ridge last week. Teams represented were the Year 7/8/9 Girls, Year 10/11/12 Girls, Year 7/8 Boys, Year 9/10 Boys and Year 11/12 Boys.

Our two girl’s teams competed on the Thursday and came up against some difficult games throughout the day. Unfortunately both teams were unable to make it into the finals for the day, but showed some good performances across the games. Thank you to Mr Lanham and Mrs Hunter for your coaching and support for our students.

Friday showed positive starts for all boy’s teams with Groves remaining undefeated over the first 7 games in all divisions. As the day continued our Year 7/8 boys narrowly missed out on making the grand final after finishing second in their pool group after a day of very good football. Thank you to Mr McClelland for your coaching and support for the boys.

The Year 9/10 boys were strong across the day and made the semi final against Hillbrook College where they went down in a tight penalty shootout 5-3. The Year 11/12 boys progressed through the hotly contested competition to make the final against Citipointe Christian College where they also went down in another tight game 1-0 after full time. Thank you to Mr Chow for your coaching and support for the boys.

Overall, Groves showed some good performances and we look forward to hopefully seeing some further successes next year for all soccer students.
