On Friday, March 29, our Year 12 Pasifika students had an awesome opportunity to participate in the Pasifika LEAD (Legacy, Education, Achievement, Dream) Conference at Woodridge State High School.
Pasifika LEAD is a Griffith University-led Pasifika outreach program designed to broaden the educational aspirations of Pasifika young people and is offered in 15 partner schools. Current Griffith Pasifika LEAD mentors shared their educational journey and our students participated in workshops covering pathways to higher education opportunities, networking with Pasifika industry partners, enhancing cultural strengths, leadership and personal goal-setting.
The guest speakers spoke with passion and were fierce advocates in encouraging the students to continue with their education at Griffith University. This is the first year Groves Christian College has taken part in this programme and our students were warmly welcomed. They were placed in four different groups and did well interacting with students from other schools. Alofaina led her team in a creative chant and each of our Year 12 student leaders were inspiring ambassadors for our school.
