On Friday, February 15, the Year 11 Fashion and General Mathematics students will be travelling by school bus to the Hyperdome shopping centre in Loganholme. They will leave school at 8:30 am (meeting at the sports dome) and be back to school by 12:30 pm. Students must wear their full formal uniform.
The Fashion students will be commencing the year with a unit studying marketing practices in the fashion industry. To help students to gain primary data for their report, we will be looking at the window presentations, shop layouts and merchandising techniques used in a variety of fashion retail outlets. Students will be analysing these observations according to their effectiveness for teenage customers in the form of a written report.
The General Mathematics students will be commencing the year with a unit studying Consumer Arithmetic. To help students to gain a greater understanding of Unit Costing and Personal Budgeting, we will be looking at the difference in unit costs of products at boutique stores and discount stores. Students will be analysing these observations and creating a personal budget and shopping list for a furnishing a lounge room report, these skills will then be utilised in their assessment due later in the term.
Students will be allowed to get food at the food court for morning tea if they wish.
We are looking forward to an educational and interesting day!
