Head of College – 2018, Term 4, Week 9

Thank you

It has been a full year of opportunity and growth at Groves Christian College. Thank you for being part of our learning community.

Christmas hope

I trust your year has been a good one. Our prayers are with those families within our community that have suffered loss, illness and other hardships in 2018. It is hard to see a way forward through these heartbreak times. Christmas reminds us of the hope we have in Jesus.

Our calendar verse for December is from Isaiah (9:6), “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah was a prophet who lived hundreds of years before Jesus. His words brought hope of a coming perfect kingdom that came closer when Jesus was born and placed in a humble manger.

We live in this imperfect world, yet as we walk through the trials of life with Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we start to experience the benefits of God’s kingdom at a personal level. We can gain strength from the hope we have in Him. We can seek God’s counsel. We can experience the inner peace of knowing we belong to an everlasting father who is the almighty God. In heaven we will enjoy the eternal benefit of living in a future kingdom where love reigns under the direct rule of Jesus, the rightful king of eternity, forever.

The school year is over. At some point during the Christmas holidays many of us will seek rest and recreation. One of my favourite places to spend time with my family is in the South Island of NZ (an amazing part of God’s creation). Spending time in nature refreshes the soul and enables space for reflection with God. I pray that your Christmas is special. I encourage you to set aside time to relax with your family and allow space in your schedule to refresh your soul as you spend time with God.

Office reopens on Monday

Tomorrow, Friday, December 7, the College is closed. The Campus One office reopens on Monday morning.

Over the coming weeks you will receive a package with the 2019 printed calendar and other information to help you prepare for a great start to the new school year.

God bless and Merry Christmas,
