Year 5 has been exploring STEM activities during rotations on Wednesday. Last week students engaged in two different activities, which supported their problem solving abilities, as well as activated their creativity. The first STEM activity was for students to build a bridge that needed to be 30cm long and made only from paddle pop sticks and five pieces of masking tape. Their aim was to create a bridge that could hold as many books as possible. The second activity required students to create a freestanding Christmas tree made from pipe cleaners. It had to be at least 30cm tall and had to hold three Christmas ornaments. Overall, students eagerly engaged with these activities and even used growth mindset when completing these tasks. Look at the masterpieces they created!
