Last week was a busy time in the Senior School, including a number of “final-time” events, as the Year 12’s completed this step of their learning journey.
Monday was the Excellent Adventure Bus Tour for our Year 12’s, a time to see the sights of Brisbane and enjoy each other’s company.
On Tuesday we were able to honour the achievements of our Senior Phase students at the Senior Phase Awards Night. We would like to again acknowledge all students who received scholarships for future study, those who completed certificates and excelled in their studies, including students who have already received offers for apprenticeships and full-time work.
On Wednesday, the Year 12’s had their Pre-Formal, which was a time for family and friends to celebrate the completion of school with the cohort, before sending them off to the Queensland Tennis Centre for dinner and a time of celebration at the Formal. Members of the extended Groves community, Rodney Frood, Michael Wilks and Matt Gill, kindly donated their time and use of their classic cars to transport students to the Pre-Formal. This generosity meant that every student had the opportunity to arrive at the event in style.
Thursday was a time of relaxation as the Year 12’s headed to the beach for their final informal excursion, as a reward for their hard work.
Friday was our final send-off for the Year 12’s at the Graduation where they received their graduation certificates before their final roll call. At the completion of the Graduation Ceremony, the entire school joined together for the final farewell and Guard of Honour.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this final week of school memorable for our Year 12’s. We pray every success for our departing students as they embark on life beyond school.
