Ever wondered what Aviation Engineering Careers are available? Aviation Australia is holding a Technical Information event on Saturday, December 1. UQ Gatton Vocational Education Centre

The University of Queensland, Gatton Vocational Education Centre (RTO 1511) 2019 High School Program. This program provides students in Year 11 and 12 with the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Rural Operations (AHC21216) whilst enrolled at school and will be delivered at The University of Queensland Gatton Campus with training scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 7, 2019. A free inter-campus bus is available from the St Lucia Campus. UQ-GVEC offers training to Queensland high school students via the Queensland Government’s VETiS program and is fee free for eligible students. To be eligible to participate in the VETiS program a student must: • Be in Years 11 or 12; • Be a resident of Queensland, attend and remain enrolled, in a Queensland school throughout the duration of the program; not hold, or be enrolled in a VETiS qualification funded by the VET investment budget • Have agreement from their school and parents, and identify the VETiS program in their Senior Education and Training (SET) plan UQ Gatton Vocational Education Centre

2019 Cert III Individual Support

Below you will find information from TAFE regarding the 2019 Cert III Individual Support course for Year 13. For more information, or to submit an Expression of Interest for 2019, please contact Stella Musk on (07) 3817 3548 or 0427 846 930 or Stella.Musk@tafe.qld.edu.au The Health Hub at Mabel Park State High School is excited to announce that the Certificate III in Individual Support will be commencing on February 20, 2019 as a post-school program. This is a great opportunity for finishing Year 12 students to kick-start their career in the Health Industry by enrolling in a course accessing the Queensland Governments Free TAFE initiative (Eligibility criteria apply). This is a highly valued qualification within the Health Industry and is a prerequisite for many aged-care and disability providers when advertising vacancies. There is a vocational placement unit within the qualification and we will be supporting students to locate employers with an emphasis on job outcomes. Registered Nursing and Aged/Disabled Care have both been identified in the top 10 occupations with the largest number of new jobs expected by 2020! (Source: Perceptions Are Not Reality report, Skilling Australia, 2017) Expected Program Outline: • Orientation – Wednesday, February 20 (9:00 am – 3:00 pm) • Classes every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (8:30 am – 3:00 pm – 30 minute lunch) commencing on Thursday, February 21 • Last Day of delivery – Friday, June 2, 2019 • Vocational Placement will be negotiated and agreed for 3 weeks after June 2, 2019 • Tutorials commence and are offered every Wednesday (8.30 am – 3:00 pm) from June 5 until July 31, 2019 (students only attend if they need additional time/support to finish assessments and are not undertaking VPC on those Wednesdays) • Attendance is not required during standard school holiday periods – no classes offered 2019 Cert III Individual Support Please note that although the flyer states that you have 9 months to complete the course it will actually be run 3 days per week for 12 weeks followed by 3 weeks of vocational placement.
