Being able to read is an essential life skill. We focus on reading in the early years of school. While many students develop their reading skills in the Foundation Phase, learning to read continues throughout life. At Groves we track the reading ability of our students. In every learning phase we are targeting reading and have programs to help students who are not at the required reading levels. As parents it is important to keep encouraging your children to read. In the earlier years the students will have home readers that you can help them with. After the home readers, it is important to talk to your child about what they are currently reading. Turn the TV off and enjoy reading.
Point your kids in the right direction –
when they’re old they won’t be lost.
