From around the piano to on the stage: Choir

Joining an extra curricula Arts program can be daunting, but once the first leap is taken, our Groves students have found the rewards are a spinning success.

I joined choir on a bit of a whim and coaxing from my brother. “It’ll be fun,” he said. And was he right! I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. It has been a busy time in the Choir Base. At the start we were practising a Bulgarian folk song for Harmony Day. Then on to the next performance for the Easter service. Then on to practising for an ANZAC service at a retirement home. Finally, to top it all off, going to the Eisteddfod at Beenleigh. It was truly a memorable time. It included my first solo. A nerve racking experience to say the least. Then as we walked on stage our track didn’t start. But we put those struggles behind us and sung to our best. It paid off! We ended up winning our section. All in all I have to say choir is a great experience and I look forward to continuing this year and throughout the rest of my schooling. – Nathan

One Voice Choir has been an amazing experience. As a group, our skills have been continually challenged and grown. In terms of community, we have also grown closer by championing each other’s talents. We’ve learnt to improvise, welcome change and accept every challenge we’re given. I have loved our practices and seeing all the effort pay off in performance. – Jannah
