Head of College – 2018, Term 3, Week 2

Following two more outstanding performances on Thursday and Saturday, our season of Mary Poppins has come to a close. On the Saturday night I travelled back stage to see the hidden work of the stage crew and witness the preparation of the cast members as they focused on their next part.

It is with great gratitude that I thank our Director of Arts, Kialyn Wassenberg, the key staff, the contributing staff and volunteers for their dedication. Thank you to our superb cast who committed many hours to group and individual rehearsal. Thank you also to the supporting families for dropping off and picking up throughout this time. Special thanks to the chimney sweep families who permitted their younger children to perform their spectacular part each performance. The 2018 secondary musical provided everyone involved with an opportunity of living life to the full as they developed their God given gifts and talents to serve others.

With sold out performances you may have missed out. Please click on the link below to see a sample of the musical through the program booklet. I also invite you to the MPC during the Groves Community Fair to view some of the props and costumes on display.

Next year, it is time for the Intermediate students to shine in their musical.

Senior Biology Camp

It was exciting to hear the wonderful accounts of the Senior Biology students sharing about their research and interaction with God’s creation. The Senior Biology camp in Northern N.S.W. was our biggest Biology camp to date with Day School and Distance Education students attending.

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small.  Psalm 104:24-25

Senior Selection Evening

Thank you to the large number of Year 10 families and students that attended the important 2019 Year 11 subject selection evening this week. Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the format of the evening. I am proud of our students for their serious approach to their future. It is excellent to have a strong Senior Phase team of leaders and teachers who are well advanced on their preparation for 2019.

Distance Education Workshops

Strong numbers are booked into our district workshops for next week.

Community Fair

The Groves Community Fair is set to start next Saturday, August 4. Look out for the program that will be sent home early next week. We look forward to welcoming you at the Fair starting at 1pm and finishing with a spectacular fireworks display at 6pm.

God bless,
