Term 2 Touchdown – Making Catapults

At Touchdown on Friday 25th May, students made catapults of varying sizes out of Craft sticks. They discussed the enquiry question of whether a larger Catapult would work better than the smaller one and hypothesised that the larger one would indeed work better. They then tested this using small marshmallows and jelly babies to see which catapult would launch them the furthest.

Touchdown is a program that is run for Groves Distance Education students who have additional needs from Prep – Year 12. It is run on Friday mornings (usually on a fortnightly basis) from 9:30am – 11:30am at Campus 2, located at 12 Velorum Drive, Kingston. There is no registration needed if you are attending, you simply come to Campus 2 on the day and sign in at the hall.

Please ensure that your student wears closed in shoes and brings a water bottle and a small, healthy snack for morning tea.
