Representatives of Komatsu, TAFE Queensland, East Coast Training and Beacon Foundation reviewed resumes prepared by some Year 10 students from the Certificate III in Spoken and Written English course.
Students said the session was valuable, provided ‘Great advice and tips’, ‘Helped so much’ and they felt more motivated. The employers described it as ‘A meaningful opportunity’ and ‘Most students had a good first draft’. Mock job interviews are planned in the future.
Tracey Crossman of Beacon Foundation said the course is ‘A very practical and worthwhile certificate for the students’. Employers are keen to be involved as they believe this is an area where school leavers are lacking.
