Here at Groves Christian College we deliver to our students the Certificate II in Hospitality as well as the Certificate II in Kitchen Operations. These two certificates are taught over two years to students in years 11 and 12. Students participate in work experience and have the opportunity to work at Manna Cafe during break times and in the kitchen for small and large events. We pride ourselves on teaching our students the value of hard work and teamwork. Students who complete their training at Groves Christian College TTC are highly prized in the hospitality industry.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic industry knowledge. They work under direct supervision. This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
If you’ve dreamed of working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, this could be the course for you. You will study basic food preparation and cooking skills to jump start your career in the hospitality industry. This qualification emphasises the practical and theoretical skills you will need to work effectively in a commercial kitchen including hygiene, health and safety, and security procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be ready to seek employment in the hospitality industry as an apprentice or kitchen hand.
