As a simple introduction to ANZAC Day, the Rainbow Kindy Group made poppies using red patty pans, pipe cleaners and leaves cut from green cardboard. We decided to make a garden with all our poppies using some old playdough as the dirt. During our morning chat time, the children heard how the soldiers in the 1st World War received biscuits from their loved ones back home in Australia which became known as Anzac biscuits. The children helped to make a double batch later in the morning which they shared with their families at pick up time. We also had the special privilege of seeing a framed photograph of Miss Gail’s Grandfather in his World War 1 Australian Army uniform dated back to 1914!
